Your role in our mission
Essential Job Functions
Designs and tests database installation, implementation, and recovery scenarios. Use DDL (Data Definition Language) and DML (Data Manipulation Language) to define the schema of a database.
Define logical attributes and data inter-relationships and designs complex data structures to accommodate database production implementation, storage, maintenance, and accessibility to enhance performance.
Implements and supports database security regulations, policies, and guidelines. determine tests to use and collects appropriate data according to established guidelines.
Develops and utilizes best practices, checklists, and defined processes, to ensure code standards and quality, follows documented standards to execute code reviews of database objects.
Prepare, package, coordinate and implement production release and fixes.
Optimizes database accessibility by developing load balancing architectures and processes to eliminate down time for backup processes.
Plans and installs upgrades of database management systems (DBMS) software as necessary to enhance database performance.
Integrates databases and commercial off the shelf software; resolves conflicts between databases and off the shelf software, operating systems, and open-source applications.
Reviews and approves application and database design decisions to ensure that the application solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, and reliability upon deployment.
Monitors security bulletins to obtain information of potential threats; is aware of and verifies the installation of necessary security patches to ensure ongoing database security.
Troubleshoot application database connectivity, Azure SQL, query performance, disaster recovery, investigates and resolves technical database issues.
Optimizing and performance tuning using execution plans, SQL Profile, and Database Tuning advisor.
Basic Qualifications
5 or more years of data management experience to include SQL Server Application Database Administration, DDL/DML and working closely with application developers
Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud, Amazon Web Services and SQL Server IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)- SQL Server version 2016 or higher is a plus.
Experience working with computer hardware/software installation/upgrading and database/system maintenance procedures, including upgrading older SQL Server versions to newer versions
Knowledge of Azure SQL database including installation, configuration, backup/restore, security, AD groups, managing resources groups and storage blobs is a plus.
Experience working with database creation techniques, database management systems (DBMS) features and database performance tuning.
Ideal candidate nice to have below skills
Application development, GitHub/TFS, PowerShell automation, Agile/Kanban, HIPAA and/or Health Care (Medicaid), SSIS, VS Code/Visual Studio.
Other Qualifications
Good programming skills for database management and general software
Good communication skills for providing documentation to support personnel, customers, and managers
Good leadership skills to guide and mentor the work of less experienced personnel
