As part of the Regional Tax Operations & Controversy team, opportunity is made available to work across entities and jurisdictions in the Group and spread across various aspects of taxation. Working closely within a global tax team, this will offer the right person experience of the industry and tax regimes / practices leading to development both professionally and personally.

Key Responsibilities
Preparation, review and documentation of all tax controversy matters applicable to the various business units of Maersk in India;
Liaising with stakeholders including business units, senior management and tax authorities in respect of tax matters;
Representation before the tax authorities (including Tribunal) in direct tax matters;
Preparation of briefs, meeting and discussions with Senior Tax Counsel including assistance in representations up to Supreme Court level;
Preparation / review of documents, and applications and submissions with respect to audits / litigation in conjunction with consultants;
Review of transactions entered by the business units, review of transfer pricing certificates, study reports and provision of services in relation to audits / litigation;
Assistance in setting correct and tax compliant litigation processes as per group policies and guidelines;
Managing the litigation reporting process along with preparation and sharing of reports such as litigation status trackers and tax memos;
Assistance in alternate dispute resolution mechanism (such as MAP, etc.)
Working closely with other Tax functions on handling all direct tax litigation ensuring preparation, qualitative reviews, effective use of technology/tools, to manage & mitigate the risk and cost relating to litigation, adapting to the increasing demands for real-time, data-led transactional reporting and informed decision making;
Ensuring effective, pro-active communication with external and internal stakeholders.
Who we are looking for
Chartered Accountant with relevant hands on practical experience in corporate tax litigation, international taxation and transfer pricing;
Strategic and proactive mindset in approach to tax.
Experience in analysing tax legislation, planning and identifying tax efficiencies.;
Results orientated, good analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities;
Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team and as an individual contributor. Effective communication, analytical skills, team building and relationship management skills;
Versatile and capable of handling multiple assignments and timely delivery;
Experience in liasing with tax auditors, tax consultants and tax authorities;
Willingness to learn about tax laws in other jurisdictions and ability to thrive in a change environment.

Experience:
Relevant experience of minimum 6-8 years in a corporate environment with global operations or an accounting firm.
