JOB SUMMARY: The Gender, Youth and Social Inclusion Advisor will report to the Regional Director of Transformative Programs & Quality, and provide overall technical leadership in the areas of gender equality and integration, social inclusion and youth programming (focusing on SRH&R) for country programs in the region. S/he will collaborate with Country Teams to help plan and implement a time bound Gender, Youth and Social Inclusion strategy (based on Gender, Youth and Social Inclusion Analysis) and ensure that the strategy inform country programs (current and new). Collaboratively s/he will introduce gender-transformative activities and/or scale up of evidence-based interventions to promote gender equality and meet the needs of youth, especially adolescent girls. With capacity building as a guiding principle, s/he will engage closely with country teams on the design, management and monitoring of all field-based programs. The Gender, Youth and Social Inclusion Advisor will support country teams assess program, technical and training needs, lead youth, gender and social inclusion analysis, review and adapt training materials, provide training, and document/disseminate and contribute to evaluation and scaling up promising practices in facility and community settings that lead to increased availability, quality and use of SRH&R services by youth, women and girls.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The job holder will support Country teams analyse country contexts (socio-economic, and political) and its impact on social development, realization of SRH&R, emerging social policy concerns, as well as implications for women and young people,
Support country programs plan and undertake Gender, Youth and Social Inclusion Analysis (every 3 years) from a SRH&R perspective.
Ensure that the results of the Gender, Youth and Social Inclusion Analysis translate into annual / program work-plans and into the collaborative learning and adapting (CLA) activities.
Support country programs develop social inclusion approaches (within projects and programs), with attention to increasing coverage of and impact on young people and women, with special attention the most marginalized, with particular reference to realization of their SRH&R. Identify, generate and present evidence to support this goal in collaboration with partners.
Significantly contribute to the design assessments and evaluations related to gender equality, GBV, rights and youth development in the region.
Support country programs plan and implement capacity-building activities in GBV/gender equality, youth involvement, social inclusion and realization of SRH rights.
Support country programs build the capacity of key country program staff, sub-awardee partners, government and NGO partners (as applicable) in gender equality, youth programming, social inclusion and SRH rights.
Support country programs seek and maximize opportunities for synergy with other gender equality, GBV prevention and response and youth-friendly programming in project areas.
Work closely with country programs to help them address host government’s Policies and Strategies for Youth and Gender Mainstreaming in SRH&R programs.
Support country teams in developing annual gender and youth work plans and budgets in consultation with finance and M&E team, and monitor the implementation of these work plans and budget.
Support country programs plan and coordinate gender equality and youth activism activities (e.g., International Women’s Day), in addition to supporting country programs develop country advocacy strategies for specific policy change with respect to youth, gender, social inclusion and promotion of SRH rights.
Support country programs establish effective partnerships with the Government, bilateral and multilateral donors, NGOs, civil society and local leaders, the private sector, UN agencies and other partners (including partners in other related sectors) to support commitment to SRH&R, particularly for young people.
Explore fundraising opportunities to broaden EngenderHealth’s engagement in gender and youth programming, in particular gender mainstreaming in SRH&R programs.
Support country programs identify and monitor gender, youth and social inclusion related project indicators to promote and document gender equality in project / program interventions.
Maintain up-to-date statistics and gender, youth and inclusion related program data in the region in collaboration with the M&E department for the region’s gender, youth and social inclusion related performance reporting.
Support Country Programs document best practices and lessons learned in implementing gender equality, youth development and social inclusion activities in the project. Support country programs write reports, success stories, technical briefs and abstracts for presentations.
Support Country Programs mainstream gender across the organization in the region and represent EngenderHealth relevant fora in the region, including being an active member of communities of best practice (on gender, youth and social inclusion) within and outside the organization.
Support country programs develop research, policies and programmes to increase the social and economic inclusion of marginalized populations.
REQUIREMENTS: Must possess the following requirements with or without a reasonable accommodation.
The applicants must hold a Master’s degree in gender, health and development or Masters in public health or Social sciences.
At least ten years’ work experience including five or more years conducting gender analysis and integration, GBV prevention and response, engaging men and boys in health programs, and promoting women’s and girls’ empowerment
Experience as a trainer with a strong track-record of implementing training strategies and programs.
Field experience in health programs
A minimum of two years’ experience providing technical advice and capacity building in programs targeting adolescent girls and youth and experience in adolescent friendly service delivery, youth development programming and coaching
Previous experience interpreting qualitative and quantitative data
Strong background in SBCC working with community and other civil society groups in the community outreach component.

Strong oral and written English communication skills
Computer literacy with standard business software (including Word, Excel and Power Point).
Willingness to travel within the country and the region (up to 50 %) of his/her work time.
